This release marks a transitional stage in Minecraft’s development. Released at 18:35 UTC, it is considered the first official Alpha version of the game, known as “Alpha v1.0.0.” Although it was launched during the Infdev phase, Notch later designated it as the start of the Alpha phase with the release of Alpha v1.0.1. Notably, this version was the final Infdev release to feature gears.

World Generation:
- Adjustments were made to the way sand and gravel are generated throughout the world.
Spawn Height (Y-axis):
- Players now spawn at Y-level 64 if the spawn point is at or below 0.
