Minecraft Indev introduced 12 versions during this period, adding armor, farming, furnaces, and a day-night cycle, making the game more survival-oriented compared to Classic.


Additions

General

  • Day-Night Cycle: The sun and moon move across the sky, affecting gameplay.
  • Farming: Players can plant seeds, grow wheat, and craft bread.
  • Third-Person View: Toggled with the F5 key.

Blocks

  • Farmland: Dirt can be tilled and crops can be planted on it.
  • Furnace: Used to smelt items such as ores and food.

Items

  • Hoes (Wood, Stone, Iron, Gold, Diamond): Till dirt into farmland.
  • Bread: Edible item crafted from wheat.
  • Seeds: Planted on farmland to grow wheat.
  • Wheat: Used to craft bread.
  • Armor: Wearable items providing protection.

Non-Mob Entities

  • Paintings: Decorative items that can be placed on walls.

World Generation

  • Map Themes:
    • Paradise: Expansive beaches, abundant flowers, fewer trees, bright sky.
    • Woods: Dense trees, no flowers, dimmer sky.

Changes

General

  • Sound System: Switched to OpenAL for better audio support.

Blocks

  • Logs: Now drop themselves instead of planks.
  • Cobblestone: Smelts into stone when placed in a furnace.

Mobs

  • Skeletons: Burn in sunlight; drop arrows when defeated.
  • Zombies: Burn in sunlight; drop feathers.
  • Pigs: Drop raw porkchops.
  • Creepers: Drop gunpowder.
  • Spiders: Drop string.
